In St. Petersburg, volunteerism is developing in various areas: events and corporate volunteering, medicine, education, social services, search for missing persons, emergency response and covers different segments of the population: from young people to the «silver» age. The total number of St. Petersburg residents involved in volunteer activities is more than 100,000 people.

Doctors, car volunteers, cultural volunteers, silver volunteers and many other volunteer organizations are changing St. Petersburg for the better every day. To help St. Petersburg's volunteer community develop, a volunteer development council was created. Its tasks include: infrastructure development, building interaction between representatives of the community and the executive bodies of state power, popularization and development of the community.
