In St. Petersburg every 5th resident is a young person from 14 to 35 years of age. Therefore, youth policy is an important part of the Government's activities. The Committee for Youth Policy and Interaction with Public Organizations is the executive body of state power in St. Petersburg.

The Committee on Youth Policy of St. Petersburg exists since 1991.

There are 32 institutions for youth affairs in the city. They implement all areas of youth policy in their territories:
28 institutions belong to the district administrations of Saint Petersburg. There are 328 youth clubs.

Several institutions belong to the Committee on Youth Policy and Interaction with Public Organizations.
